It is time to get your Shift together



Seriously, it is time to get your Shift together! The diagram above represents what we call the Wellness Continuum. Simply put it asks the question; where are you at in terms of Wellness and Illness. Wellness in our office is not about losing weight, having more energy, or just feeling better. Those are all nice side effects of improving your health but real Wellness is making changes in your life now, so you can enjoy your life later.



Are you in your 20s or 30s and have pain, symptoms, low energy, take multiple medications, don't exercise, are overweight, or sick all of the time? If you are then how do you think you are going to feel in your 50s and 60s? You have to take responsibility now to make sure your quality of life is high in your later years.



The Wellness Continuum shows normal at the center with no sign of illness. Each day you make choices that move you down one side of this continuum. You may do some good and some not so good choices and stay about the same, but where is the fun in that? Take a look at your diet (nutrition), exercise habits, stress levels, mobility and flexibility, and your energy level. If you have problems in any of those areas then you are heading down the wrong direction on the continuum.



It's time to get your SHIFT together. Start by making one new healthy choice EACH day to Shift your travel down the continuum from Illness to Wellness.

You are What You Eat

Well not 100%, if you eat nothing but pretzels for a month you won't really become a pretzel but what you eat does play a huge role in how you feel and how healthy you are.

For Example: Did you know that pain receptors can be stimulated mechanically (tissue injury) or chemically (nutrition). It is true and the modern diet tends to create a pro-inflammatory state that makes our bodies more prone to pain and discomfort. One way to counteract this is to supplement your diet. It has been recommended that people supplement their diets with high quality multi-vitamin/minerals and omega three fatty acids (fish oil).

In addition it is crucial to drink plenty of water and make sure you include fresh fruits and vegetables with each meal. If you do these simple things you can improve the function of your body.
